I might be wrong, but surely UK High Street stores ought to be referring British stores, not to Swedish, Spanish, Irish, and one British store

Almond Clark I take your point, but all are listed as UK High Street stores on the source I checked. They are all stores selling in the UK, not all UK founded, and admittedly I don't know what is classed as a 'High Street' store.

Almond I think HMK74 is correct High Street in the UK means a high street presence a British store would eb a British brand of store of which there are very few now.
