(Spoiler Alert) --Technically, these are homophones, though some groups include one or more homographs as well.

The mineral group has very lax definitions. Some of the homophones are not, e.g. Torte is pronounced with two syllables as the final e is not silent, and oar sounds quite different from or or awe. Nice idea spoiled by lack of attention to detail.

@Nighteyes, We're not speaking German here, so a single syllable is the normal, English, pronunciation for torte ( also French).
