Why stringed? No such thing as an unstringed guitar, if playable. No one says steel stringed guitar. That's is not a misdirect or red herring, it's confused and confusing.

@bigz, guitars can be nylon-stringed or steel-stringed, so it's a perfectly valid and not uncommon term. As a clue it made it a bit transparent, perhaps, but not in any way confusing to anyone that knows about guitars.

Sorry, forgot to add, on the guitar front, that 6 and 12 are also common possible prefixes, and other numbers of strings exist in certain niche products. I don't think any are still produced with catgut strings, but that might have been an option too.
