What are the "e.g fiver tenner" and "west" doing in the hidden number clues? And we have hidden weather as well. And why "poison-sedge"? I really like some of your puzzles, but this didn't really work for me. Sorry!

Eurydice- thanks for commenting. To explain the extra superfluous looking words- this grid had three false groups:
UK Moors, including West Pennine, Sedgemoor, Hexhamshire (which I misspelled) and Dart,
Paper- including the paper money (examples thrown in to lead you astray), paper dart, weight, buff/ type printed;
Leagues, including champions, ivy, justice, and any place name that may look like it could fit.
Hailsham was a red herring as it contains both hidden words, Poison sedge is a toxic plant and fit the false group too, hence that choice- three hidden word groups in one grid was a bit samey, yes, but that was the compromise I made in order to fit in the precede, succeed and types of three false groups.
I always appreciate your feedback eurydice, as you are always polite and constructive. I hope that this explanation removes any confusion about my choices- there was a lot going on so I compromised on style a wee bit but the effort did go in! :) Take care and keep well x

Please stop submitting terrible grids. You really don't follow the rules that only connect sets, and this is really what the site is about. Anyone can throw in 4 anagrams, hidden words or stuff, but, you just don't get it.

Where is this coming from,Andy?not fair I think...Lorna's grids are imaginative and challenging but follow the rules I believe,and have given a great deal of enjoyment to puzzlers!please keep submitting!

Thanks Wiz- and everybody who's got my back- I am so used to comments from trolls- bought that t- shirt MONTHS ago- I'm big enough and ugly enough to keep doing grids I enjoy setting- people are heckling a free of charge, open- mic night gig- bad form! Any and all may have a go, if folks don't like it they can jog on- no harm no foul. I have nothing to say to the trolls- this message is to anyone bothering to read this and considering either submitting their first grid or breaking out into new territory, formats, styles or ideas. DO NOT BE PUT OFF! It is the variety and range of people from all over the world that make this site wonderful and never boring, especially now when a lot of people need to share, socialise or relieve boredom. Be grateful that this is FREE ENTERTAINMENT which a lot of people work hard on. I'll take any nastiness or criticism, constructive or otherwise, if it means you take a leap and do whatever you want to. I know I'm not for everybody, and I don't try to be. Were not on the telly, there aren't hard rules- if you can fit it in a 4x4 and it works as a unique grid- knock yourself out. G'night, sending love out to everybody xx

As always good but hard grid. Also thanks for your words of encouragement on my grid.

Sorry but this was rubbish. When you're resorting to "has ham in it" then you're really out of ideas, especially when one of the clues literally was the word ham. Add the fiver which wasn't the hidden number and none of these sets are very good.

I usually love your grids Lorna, but couldn't get into this one and got my first ever zero! I blame myself a bit and you a bit - it isn't your best grid, but I usually look out for yours as you are the most consistently excellent setter! Sorry some got a hit over emotional about a quiz, but glad to see your note of defiance - looking forward to your next grids.
