Yep.
Or nope.
Depends if you're a paleontologist, or you enjoy French film making, or the hits of Elton John, or whether you have a clue where the South Pole is.
You see - if we just keep rotating Harry Potter characters, Celebrity Big Brother contestants, American states and Douglas Adams stuff, we end up with one feck off dull site, and we also contribute to the collective idiocy that is the UK at the moment. So excuse me if I mix it up with Crossroads characters, awful puns on bands from the 1960s, Luc Besson films and famous otters, but that's the score. It'd what you get.
Judge a grid, not by what you know, but for the grids itself. Is there a unique solution? Are there sufficient red herrings to add challenge? Do all clues begin with a capital letter? Is everything spelt correctly? Has the compiler gone to the effort of trying to cover all key words in answers? You know - key stuff.
Amen.

Clap clap clap well said!!!!!!!!!!! Very good grid, the fossils threw me but I LEARNED SOMETHING! My rule of thumb is- if its trying to look clever by being obscure then it's a crap grid. If it's solvable but challenging, whatever the content, it's good. It could be a bunch of teletubbies or flavours of capri- sun, but if they're well hidden, then game on!

Errr, how many famous otters are there?

Too few, Lorna.
Too few.

Incidentally, Mij’s death - the most shocking scene in cinema history bar none.

One of my favourite animals, BinDipper! I always think that they look a bit like Judi Dench? ;)
