Spent the best part of a minute fixating on the "cross" group thinking "Criss" was just a red herring for Kris (Kross - the hip hop duo) before the more obvious phrase (and correct spelling thereof!) dawned on me... good work sir!

Top up. Didn't get the top category. I didn't try hard enough. Got nine thought and enjoyed it. Good puzzle.

Can't "hat" and "dog" switch places? I think it's ambiguous for those two, since both fit both categories.

Good grid. Enjoyed it thoroughly although there is an error. The Monopoly pieces I put in pieces in Monopoly which it didn't accept and it should of the Top category Top Dog could also work as well as Top Hat, so nice red herring. All and all a hard grid to crack but not that hard. Thumbs up!

Good wall, pretty straightforward.
Some people obviously don't get the point that there are supposed to be words which fit into more than one category. It's what makes it more challenging to solve.

A good board doesn't just include items that can fit in more than one category for the sake of it. A great board actually makes sure that those items might fit at first if the person solving the board establishes too broad of a connection.

This one doesn't.

And I'm not talking just about the Shrek line, I'm talking about the Victoria line as well. There are multiple such items here.

Like others, I think the Top/Dog interchangeability spoils it, as you can burn lives on the last categories even if you select sets of words that fit the given criteria.

I think some of these comments re hat and dog are incorrect. The Monopoly piece is very specifically a TOP Hat and as the clue was simply HAT, then Hat is a perfect fit for TOP but not for Monopoly. This is exactly the sort of red herring that these puzzles are meant to have, surely?

I do think the dog/hat commenters have a point. These are not red herrings, but they are actually completely interchangeable. That's not the same thing.

Did like the grid, though. I didn't even spot the interchangeability until I read the comments.

Liked it. Does it really matter if it does not accept cartoons/movies? Surely you can decide whether you are right or wrong and score yourself accordingly... then move on!
