Once again we have a southern english mis-pronunciation ruining a good grid... For is not a homophone for FOUR - FORE is

Which dialect of English do you consider to have 'correct' pronunciation, JJ?

I don’t understand the for, four, fore comment. I pronounce them all the same and am from the Midwest.

Miss Doubt
Really hoped it was going to be 'powers of two' instead of just 'numbers'

I am a little confused with the mispronunciation theme. For is fore is four in proper English whereas the issue should be Won is pronounced "Wun" and One is pronounced "Won" is it not? Also powers of two are square numbers not just evens.

Wiz
Oh,no! Not one and won and wun too!

Controforesy
For has an "aw" sounding o, whereas Fore has an "o" in many uk accents.

good grid. Can't think of anyway of pronoucing fore, for or four differently. are you saying fore is pronounced foe? what about forehead, forearm, forelock?

Jeeves

(6 years, 4 months ago)

Jeeves

I'd love to know how JJLeDJ pronounces "for" and "four".

Good grid. I got the Gervais ones before I even saw Extras, so the red herring didn't work on me. I was convinced there were chewing gums!
