Rabbit punch?
I also think the terms cigarette ash, cigarette end and cigarette paper aren't commonly used enough to be decent clues.
I did like the red herring group though.

A rabbit punch is a blow to the back of the head or to the base of the skull. It is considered especially dangerous because it can damage the cervical vertebrae and subsequently the spinal cord, which may lead to serious and irreparable spinal cord injury.

I recognized the phrase rabbit punch, but in the United States it's more commonly called a donkey punch.
